Greenwich Mencap runs a range of social activities for adults with a learning disability throughout the year. Our aim is to reduce isolation and encourage friendships by developing service user’s skills whilst having fun.
As well as the Riverwood Project woodwork and crafts day centre, we run daytime activities where service users can get together and socialise as monthly evening activities . Our activities are fully inclusive where we welcome everyone regardless of their disability.
If you would like to attend our day and evening activities and are not independent and need support, you must bring a carer with you.

Dramatic Voice
Watch our service users in action in the first show from our Dramatic Voices singing and drama activity. Dramatic Voice is held in the Tramshed every Wednesday from 10:15 to 12:15. Call Sam on 0208 305 2245 to book a place!
Who can take part in our activities?
We offer both day and evening social events for adults with a learning disability. You do not need to be a member of Greenwich Mencap or live in the borough of Greenwich to join in the fun, and we would love to see you there. Although staff are always on hand, if you require one-to-one support, you must bring your own carer.
For more information about any of the social activities listed above, please contact our Support & Activity Coordinator Richard Gibbons using the details below.

The Riverwood Project
We run a day service at our workshop in Woolwich, South East London which provides meaningful work opportunities for adults with a learning disability, learning difficulty or autism.
As well as learning to make a wide range of wood products in a safe, supervised environment which are then available to buy through our website, our service users socialise, engage in arts & crafts, and take day trips into the community.
How to join an activity
Although you can simply turn up to any of our activities and we will welcome you in, we suggest you let us know you’re coming first. You can either call Sam 0208 305 2245 for daytime activities or Richard on 07943 790336 or, email her sc1@greenwichmencap.org.uk to send her a message or drop by Riverwood to speak to a member of staff.
