Director of Services £41,500 (to be reviewed in 10/11)
We are seeking a dynamic, motivated and highly skilled professional who is fully committed to our philosophy to lead a dedicated team towards the achievement of the Organisation’s strategic aims and objectives.
An exciting opportunity following a management re-structuring has arisen to build on our successes and our existing excellent Adult and Children Services. We are looking for a motivated self-starter to identify new opportunities in response to the personalisation agenda, and to attract new funding to make ‘Aiming High for Disabled Children’ and ‘Valuing People Now’ a reality in Greenwich.
You will also act as adviser to the Board of Trustees and ensure that all charitable, company, regulatory and statutory obligations are met on behalf of the Board of Trustees.
You will have significant management and supervisory experience and significant experience of working with children and/or adults with learning disabilities and their families. You will also have the ability to motivate and inspire our teams. Additionally, candidates will need to have a proven track record of successful leadership and experience in fundraising, financial management, strategic leadership and change management. All applicants should be educated to degree level and have a professional qualification in health/social care or another relevant area.
Employees may opt to join the Pension Trust. Greenwich Mencap will contribute 6%.

Are you creative, highly organised and able to work to deadlines? Do you have the ability to self manage when required and do you enjoy multi- tasking? Would you like to work for a friendly and committed Organisation that works in close partnership with its members and service users?
We are seeking a dynamic, motivated individual to join Greenwich Mencap to support the Director, Deputy Director, and the staff team in areas including financial and performance management, fundraising, the use and development of information technology, the production of up to date marketing material and efficient administration
You will have an important role in ensuring Greenwich Mencap continues to provide effective support to its existing services and is also well equipped to respond to future challenges.
All applicants will be required to hold a professional or vocational qualification of an equivalent level in a relevant area, have management/supervisory experience, and be able to communicate effectively with children and adults with learning disabilities and their families.
Applicants will be required to complete an enhanced CRB check.

Befriending adults with learning disabilities: 1:1 friendships
How often: a few hours each month
When: as agreed by the befriender and scheme user
Where: out and about in the community
Monthly pub night
3 hours on the last Tuesday of every month at a pub in Charlton
Parties: setting up Greenwich Mencap parties, helping them run smoothly and clearing up at the end
When: usually around Easter, Hallow E’en and Christmas (early Dec)
Where: at the Forum @ Greenwich, Trafalgar Road, Greenwich SE10
Based with the Organisation
Charity Shop
Working in the sorting room and serving in the shop
How often: usually one session a week
When: to be agreed
Where: Greenwich Mencap charity shop on Trafalgar Road, Greenwich SE10
Administrative support
Assisting with mailouts, distributing leaflets, photocopying and filing
