About Friendship Support Services
This project focuses on enabling adults with learning disabilities living
in the London Borough of Greenwich to make and maintain lasting friendships.
Befriending:
we recruit volunteers to befriend adults with a learning disability
on a one to one basis. We are looking for men and women over the age
of 18 who can spare 2-3 hours a month. You need to be friendly, reliable,
open and honest.
We offer ongoing support, training and out of pocket expenses. You and
your friend decide together what you want to do.
Funded by: LB
Greenwich Social Services.
Friendship
Bank: this project provides support to adults with mild learning
disabilities who can travel some routes on their own. There's a weekly
drop-in at the Forum café, some weekend activities and support
available for meeting up with old and new friends.
Funded by: Serco Docklands and the Drapers Company
Monthly Meet-up
pub night at a local pub :
this is a regularly scheduled night out for adults who need a high level of support to get out
and about with their friends.
